Harvest Tea 2013, Part 1, My Table

Our Church's Annual Harvest Tea was held on Wednesday , October 9th.

This year, I decided to return to the event as a Hostess and I hosted one table with 10 guests.

My Theme for my table was "Quoth the Raven, NEVERMORE" from Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven.
Since I just finished getting our downstairs back together a little over a week ago after a major Remodel, I was really under the clock to get everything ready for the Tea.

But I made it even though I had a Melt Down last weekend, stressing over baking and getting the food ready for my guests.
Joe stepped in and said "STOP making yourself crazy and just order everything"!
 So I did!
And I am glad that I did!!

I have a lot of pictures to share of the Tea so I am going to post it in 3 parts.

This  post will be Part 1 and I will share my Table and Buffet Table with you in this post.......
Since I could not decorate for Halloween after our Remodel, I decided that I would take most of the things that I usually use to decorate our Dining Room with and do a Black, White and Silver color scheme.

Please excuse the lighting as during Set Up, they did not have all the lights on in the Hall.

For the center of the table, I used a large white bird cage.
I used a white punch bowl and a clear glass table round, draped with a black spider web lace topper,  to elevate it off the table......
Inside the Bird Cage on a pedestal, that I made out of a saucer and a candlestick, I placed an antique silver bridal basket, filled with white spider wed fabric and then placed a black glittered Skull on a pedestal in the center.
I decorated the Bird cage with a black and silver bow, actually made out of Christmas ribbon, and wrapped silver wired Skull garland around the cage and added battery operated LED mini lights.
And of course, added 2 Black Birds, which I will call Ravens on top of the cage!
All around the cage, on the table round and on the table itself, are other decorations......
Rats, Skulls, Black Books.......
Potion Bottles, Black Pumpkins......
Ravens  and tombstones.....

Small crystal bowls were filled with silver wrapped Hershey Kisses and Tea Bags of various flavors......
I set each place setting using a Silver round tray from The Dollar Tree, covered by a white paper doily.....
The Black Stemware, tea cups and silver ware are plastic......
Silver place card holders tell each guest where their place at the table is......
My Favors for each guest  was their Raven, tombstone, black rose , ant and silver skull on their tray and their silver tray when they were done eating!

I provided bags for them to place all this in to so it would be easy for them to take home......
The card, " Once upon a Midnight Dreary", was attached to their black Rose ......
So this is what my Theme Table looked like.......

Behind my table, was my buffet table where I set up the food I would be serving my guests......
I set up one of my 4 foot tables that I use for the Craft Fairs behind the table that the church provided .....
On that table, I also set up a little display......
My Funeral Basket all decked out in Black and White......
A few Tombstones and Pumpkins......
A Skull, Rats and Ravens......
And Cemetery Candles!!

There is an LED lighted branch inside the basket......
Here is the table with all my crystal serving pieces on it......
I placed trays of food on top of the cake stands so people could see the spider web placemats underneath.....
So this is what my table looked like before the Tea.

Each Hostess is responsible for inviting her guests ,decorating her table and providing food for her guests. Each guest is charged $10.00. That money goes toward a Scholarship Fund for a Deserving High School Senior to be put toward a College Education.  Raffle tickets are also sold for various prizes. Each hostess is asked to bring in 1-2 Door Prizes.  Usually the Hall is filled with 200 - 250 people for this event .
